What is FSSAI License Fees or COST in India?
According to the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing & Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations of 2011, there are specific rules in place regarding the fee structure for Food Business Operators. In India, all food businesses are required to register with the FSSAI or obtain a food license. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in penalties or other forms of punishment.
The FSSAI registration fee is divided into two categories: government expenses and expert expenses. The government charges an application handling fee, while our experts charge a fee for setting up your application.
There are three types of FSSAI registration: Basic, State, and Central. The fees for each type of registration are outlined below:
1. Basic FSSAI License - Fees
Annual revenue below 12 lakhs - 100/- per year
2. State FSSAI License - Fees
Annual turnover falling between 12 lakhs and below 20 crores - 2000/- or 5000/- per year
3.Central FSSAI License - Fees
Annual turnover greater than 20 crores - 7500/- per year
FSSAI Basic Registration is typically the first step for most businesses in India, accounting for about 80-85% of all registrations. If someone is starting a business and is unsure of their expected turnover, they can opt for basic food safety registration. This registration can be upgraded to FSSAI State License if the turnover exceeds Rs. 12 Lakh.
For businesses that do not fall under the above categories of FSSAI registration, they must obtain a Central License. Importers and exporters are required to obtain an FSSAI Central License as a mandatory requirement.
